Kevin McGoff : An introduction to thermodynamic formalism in ergodic theory through (counter)examples

The goal of this talk is to give a self-contained introduction to some aspects of the thermodynamic formalism in ergodic theory that should be accessible to probabilists. In particular, the talk will focus on equilibrium states and Gibbs measures on the Z^d lattice. We'll present some basic examples in the theory, as well as some recent results that are joint with Christopher Hoffman.
